“What do you call someone who wants more soup?”/“A moresoupial.”

“Marsupial” has nothing to do with soup, but there are “more-soup-ial” jokes. Some jokes connect to the Charles Dickens’s 1838 novel Oliver Twist and musical Oliver! (1960, filmed in 1968), where Oliver asks for some more.

“After finishing his first bowl of broth, the guy in the Aussie pub asked for moresoupial, please” was posted on the newsgroup aus.jokes on February 2, 2003. “I think someone is becoming a ‘more-soup-ial’” was posted on Twitter by The Woken Green on March 28, 2008.

“MORE SOUP! FEED ME MORE SOUP! i am a moresoupial” was posted on Twitter by Selena on February 21, 2009. “‘I’m having more soup. You might even call me a moresoupial.’ - my boyfriend to me just now” was posted on Twitter by Anna Mowry on January 15, 2010. “Dinner conversation with @ecreinhart tonight: ‘What do you call someone who wants more soup? A moresoupial.’ I’ll see myself out” was posted on Twitter by Dave Markowitz on July 17, 2019.

“What do u call a kangaroo that always asks for more soup? A moresoupial! Lolololol” was posted on Twitter by Mario Bregoli on January 25, 2012. “What do you call a hungry kangaroo that always asks for a second serving of soup? A more-soup-ial” was posted on Twitter by Rob Verger on March 15, 2018.

“What do you call a possum who wants seconds? A more-soup-ial” was posted on Twitter by Laughing Pine, But Spoopy on August 3, 2021. “What do you call an opposum who goes back for seconds in the soup line? A more-soup-ial” was posted on Reddit—Dadjokes on April 16, 2022. “What kind of possum goes back for a second helping of soup? A more-soup-ial” was posted on Twitter by Suddenly Scream-more on May 10, 2022.

“Did you know Oliver Twist originally got a pet Koala in an early draft of the book. He asked for a ‘more soup’-ial” was posted on Twitter by JetsFaninBillsLand Kim on September 12, 2019. “What do you call a kangaroo who’s starred in Oliver Twist? A more-soup-ial” was posted on Reddit—Dadjokes on October 18, 2022. This Oliver Twist joke posted on Twitter by Charles Payseur on February 3, 2022:

No one:
Me: So I guess Oliver Twist must be one of the early examples of furry lit.
No one: Excuse me what?
Me: Because Oliver is a kangaroo or wombat or something, right?
No one: How would you even…?
Me: Because he’s a more-soup-ial!
No one:
No one:
No one: I hate you so much

Wikipedia: Marsupial
Marsupials are any members of the mammalian infraclass Marsupialia. All extant marsupials are endemic to Australasia, Wallacea and the Americas. A distinctive characteristic common to most of these species is that the young are carried in a pouch. Marsupials include opossums, Tasmanian devils, kangaroos, koalas, wombats, wallabies, bandicoots, and the extinct thylacine.

Wikipedia: Oliver! (film)
Oliver! is a 1968 British period musical drama film based on Lionel Bart’s 1960 stage musical of the same name, itself an adaptation of Charles Dickens’s 1838 novel Oliver Twist.
(...)
Act 1
At a workhouse in Dunstable, the governors hold a sumptuous banquet while the orphans are served their daily gruel and dream of enjoying (“Food, Glorious Food”). Forced by some of the other boys, who draw lots, where the tangled one falls on Oliver, Oliver approaches Mr. Bumble and the Widow Corney, and asks for more to eat.

After finishing his first bowl of broth, the guy in the Aussie pub asked for moresoupial, please. He couldn’t figure out why the wait staff was hopping mad about it. It seems that the law had been changed recently and it was no longer legal to sell Kangaroo tails. It was a Tailiban.

Of course, if a Kangaroo’s rear appendage is chopped off, it will have to go to a retail store for a new one.
