“Catalogs” sounds like “cattle-logs.” “Where might you expect to find a cow’s pedigree?—In a cattle-log” was cited in an 1873 newspaper. “When cows are shopping by mail-order, do they buy merchandise through cattle-logs?” was a “Cryptoquip” answer that was published in many newspapers in October 2003.
