“‘What’ll it be, Hun?’—Southern waitress serving Attila”

Many Southern waitresses, according to the stereotype, address a diner with “hon” (honey). This as nothing to do with Attila the Hun, but there are jokes.

“I get called ‘Hun’ sometimes by waitresses. My reply: ‘Actually, I go by Attila’” was posted on Twitter by George Rapp on July 8, 2009. “‘More coffee, Hun?’—waitress to Attila” was posted on Twitter by Ken Jennings on February 1, 2013.

The waitress asked, ‘What can I get ya, Hun?’” was posted on the newsgroup Google Groups: The Grif.net on April 20, 2018. “Attila walks into a quaint Southern diner.
