“When one door closes, the next one slams in your face”

“When one door shuts, another opens” is an old proverb about opportunity. However, it is also possible that when one door closes, there is no other opportunity—in fact, there could be fewer opportunities. For example, when a worker is fired, it could become much harder to find another job (or “open door”).

“As One Door Closes Another Slams in Your Face” was the title of an episode of the British comedy-drama series Charles Endell Esquire that aired in 1979 and 1980. “As one door closes, another one slams in your face” was printed in The Globe and Mail (Toronto, ON) on March 5, 1985. “When one door closes, another door slams in your face” was printed in the The Observer (London, UK) on June 23, 1985.

Wikipedia: Charles Endell Esquire
Charles Endell Esquire is a British comedy-drama series that is a spin-off of the series Budgie, with the role of Endell continuing to be played by Iain Cuthbertson. Due to an ITV technicians’ strike which took the network completely off the air for three months, the first two episodes were broadcast in 1979 and the remaining episodes were not aired until a full repeat of the series began on 26 April 1980 on all ITV regions except Southern Television who started it on 1 May 1980, Westward Television never broadcast the series. Only six episodes were made.

“When one door closes another slams in your face!” True or False?
Best Answer:  True ! then the next door breaks your foot as you try to stick it in there!
Surfininjunmonkey
False. When one door closes, more doors open for an opportunity that you wouldn’t have had if the other door hadn’t closed.

It is actually said, “One door closes and another door opens.” What you’re quoting is the name of an episode of TV show “Charles Endell, Esq”.

It’s not always true, but it’s worth preparing for it. Just in case.

When one door closes… you better get used to doors slamming in your face because it probably won’t be the last. And it probably wasn’t the first. #wednesdaywisdom #wisdomwednesday #wisdom #truth #wednesdaythoughts
