“Why can’t 45 degree angles get a mortgage?”/“They don’t know whether to sine or cosine.”

“Sine” and “cosine” have nothing to do with “sign” and “cosign” (as with a mortgage), but there are jokes. “Whenever they said ‘sine’ I just wrote my name in cursive. And whenever they said ‘cosine’ I helped someone get a mortgage” was posted on Twitter by Ryan Henning on March 22, 2011.

Trigonometry, where a student will sine his soul, cosine his mortgage over to the devil but still go off on a tangent in class. Theta this!

When a mathematician gets a mortgage, do they sine the agreement? And should someone else cosine it? Sorry, I’m going off on a tangent.

When you get a mortgage on a house in the shape of an equilateral triangle you need someone to sine, someone to cosine, and then a tan gent.
