“Why did the chicken cross the road?”/“To get to the other side” is a classic riddle from the 19th century. A Canadian version is:

The joke is that Canadians follow what Americans do. “Eddie Guerrero blew his top, ‘Yeah, well…why did the Canadian cross the road? BECAUSE HE SAW THE AMERICANS DO IT FIRST!’” was posted on the newsgroup alt.pro-wrestling.wwf on August 23, 2002. “Q. Why did the Canadian cross the road? A. He saw some American do it on TV” was printed in the book The Penguin Book of More Canadian Jokes (2003) by John Robert Colombo.
“Why did the Canadian cross the road?”/“To get to the middle” is a similar Canadian riddle.
