“Pride comes before a fall” is a version of the saying in the Bible, Book of Proverbs, 16:18. “Pride” does not mean a group of lions and “fall” does not mean autumn, but there are jokes.
   
“Summer on the veldt/ Lion spotters know the pride/ Comes before the fall” was posted on the newsgroup alt.callahans on July 5, 2001. “Coming up on BBC4, a documentary about the sex lives of lions near the end of the summer. That’s ‘Pride Comes Before The Fall’, at 10pm” was posted on Twitter by Equium on July 22, 2017.
