“Won not done”

“One and done” refers to a loss that a team suffers in a single elimination championship tournament—one loss and the team is gone from the tournament. “Won not done” means that the team has won and will advance to another game in the tournament.

“Won. Not Done.” was used to refer to the University of Kentucky men’s basketball team in the NCAA championship tournament on March 30, 2014. Nike (a sports apparel company)  posted “Won. Not done. @KentuckyMBB” on Twitter.

Four teams played in the first College Football Playoff on January 1, 2015. The winning teams—Oregon and Ohio State—were given “Won Not Done” T-shirts that included the Nike swoosh logo.

“One and done” also describes an aspiring team’s chances in a season-ending tournament such as NCAA March Madness. Some teams are “one and done” by early Thursday afternoon. It’s as if they weren’t even in the tournament.

After Kentucky defeated Michigan, Ms. Tyler Thompson, a writer for kentuckysportsradio.com, posted this catchy phrase, “Won, Not Done.” Yes, the Wildcats had won this game, but they were not done because there were two more games to win in order to be crowned NCAA champions.

I think the ‘WON, NOT DONE’ shirt are clever; but has there ever been tee w/ a shorter shelf life of relevancy? Maybe MLB ‘WILD CARD’ tees?
