"Gesture” sounds a bit like “jester,” and there’s a pun that has been printed on GIFs:

“Yesterday, a clown held a door open for me. I thought it was a nice jester.”

The joke was popularized on the website Pun of the Day on January 10, 2014:

“The other day I held the door open for a clown. I thought it was a nice jester.”

It makes more sense if the clown opens the door for the person, so that “it was a nice jester” refers to both the clown and the clown’s gesture. However, both versions have been told.
