“You can’t leave those who created the problem in charge of the solution”

“You can’t just leave those who created the problem in charge of the solution” is a saying that has been printed on many images. The quote applies to both government and business.

“Or, as Tyree Scott put it, ‘you can’t leave those who created the problem in charge of the solution’” was printed in Black Power at Work:
Community Control, Affirmative Action, and the Construction Industry
(2010), edited by David Golberg and Trevor Griffey. The underground newspaper Seattle Flag of July 5, 1972, was cited. Tyree Scott (1940-2003) was a leader of the United Construction Workers Association.

The word “just” is often added. “‘You just can’t leave those who created the problem in charge of the solution.’ – Tyree Scott” was printed in the book All the Rest Is Propaganda (2013) by Mike Hockney. “‘You can’t just leave those who created the problem in charge of the solution.’ ~Tyree Scott” (shown on an image) was posted on Facebook by American Friends Service Committee on February 11, 2013. “YOU SIMPLY CANNOT LEAVE THOSE WHO CREATED THE PROBLEM IN CHARGE OF THE SOLUTION!” (shown on an image) was posted on Twitter by Sal the Agorist on June 1, 2023.
