“You don’t have to get it right. You just have to get it going”

“You don’t have to get it right. You just have to get it going” is a popular saying with many entrepreneurs. Almost nothing is perfect at the start, so that shouldn’t prevent someone from starting a business.

Mike Litman, author of Conversations with Millionaires (2002), is most frequently credited with the saying. “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great” is a similar saying from the 1990s.

What is Success and How Do We Achieve It?
(...)
Mike Litman comes up with golden statements frequently. Here is just one of them:

“The biggest secret of success in life is: You don’t have to get it right; you just have to get it going. Perfectionism can kill success. We never get going because we are always waiting to get everything just right. Instead, let’s get going.”

The Final Key To Getting What You Want
(...)
Focused action means doing the things that will actually take us to what we want in life. There are things that we won’t learn, questions that we don’t even know to ask, until we actually do something constructive and take action on our dreams. As Mike Litman says, “You don’t have to get it right, you just have to get it going.”

9. Stop Putting It Off!  Procrastination is the enemy of success.  The time you waste on stalling breeds guilt, and guilt deflates energy and sometimes even leads to depression.  When you feel stuck and can’t seem to move ahead, always remember that you don’t have to get it right, you just have to get it going!

I can’t remember who said it, but there’s an old saying: ‘You don’t have to get it right, you just have to get it going.’ All you need to do is get a prototype, walk out there and see if anyone will buy your product.
