“You’re being conditioned to believe freedom is selfish”

“You’re being conditioned to believe freedom is selfish” was posted on Twitter by Sal the Agorist on April 29, 2020.

No explanation was given, but it was said during the 2019-20 coronavirus outbreak. People were instructed to give up their freedom and self-quarantine in their homes, for what the government said was the public health of all citizens. Sal the Agorist would argue that freedom is a natural right, and exercising a natural right is never selfish. The reverse is probably true—the government taking individual freedoms is selfish.

“Danger: You are being conditioned to view your freedom as selfish” is a related saying that has been printed on many signs. “America is being conditioned to view freedom as selfishness” is a similar saying.

“What’s really selfish is expecting other individuals to surrender their liberties so that you can enjoy a false sense of security. AND THATS A FACT” is a related saying that was posted on Twitter by Mr Introspective on March 31, 2020.

We should acknowledge that just because one is born in the US does not make them American. If you believe freedom is selfish, or that reporting on your neighbors for living freely is just, you are an american on paper only. And we are fast approaching us vs them territory.

A post from a friend I think is an important point for us to consider:
“You’re being conditioned to believe freedom is selfish.” -Michael Stanley (There is no evidence that Michael Stanley coined the saying.—ed.)

We’re being conditioned to believe freedom is selfish. Well, then I’m going to be really selfish.
