“Git-R-Done” or “Git-‘er-Done” (“Git-R-Dun,” “Git-‘er-Dun,” “G.E.D.”)

“Git-‘er-done” (or “git-r-done,” git-r-dun,” “git-‘er-dun”) is sometimes called the Texas “G.E.D.” (also known as the General Equivalency Diploma). The term is a catchphrase of the comedian Larry-the-Cable-Guy (Daniel Lawrence Whitney)—a star of Blue Collar TV—and is popular throughout the South.

Wikipedia: Larry the Cable Guy
Daniel Lawrence Whitney (born February 17, 1963 in Pawnee City, Nebraska), better known by the stage name Larry the Cable Guy, is a stand up comedian, actor, and one of the co-stars of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour and the subsequent series Blue Collar TV.
(...)
Southern accent
Whitney’s Southern accent is worn as an affectation. Having grown up in Nebraska before moving to West Palm Beach in South Florida when he was 16, Whitney’s natural inflection is much more Midwest than Deep South. He says in interviews and in his autobiographical book GIT-R-DONE that he willingly “turns on” the accent.[3] See this YouTube link for an early comedy routine performance without his accent. He also has many inconsistencies within his accent making it a mix of several different regional areas.

Catchphrases
Larry the Cable Guy uses catchphrase humor, including “Git-R-Done”, as well as “Lord, I apologize for that right there, and please be with the starvin’ pygmies in New Guinea, A-men” and/or “I don’t care who you are, that’s funny right there!” after particularly egregious jokes

1. Git Er Done
A redneck phrase meaning to go ahead and complete a task. Shows support, encouragement, or respect. Often used in reference to potential sexual encounters.
Lee: I got a paper due tomorrow…
Rawdy: Git Er Done!!

Two guys at a bar see a really hot chick, and one says, “Git Er Done”!

by Dr. Frobious PHD (subculture languages) Feb 6, 2004

2. git er done
A ridiculously vacuous phrase most often uttered by white middle-class suburbanites and lower-class city dwellers to express an imaginary connection with the country or cowboy lifestyles. Most often used in reference to a task, since it is a take on “get her done,” meaning to finish a job, primarily something associated with blue-collar work. The biggest fans of this phrase and its subsiquent cultural niche are those who either have never lived on a farm, never seen a cow, or are unhealthily obsessed with country music. They most often drive pick-up trucks that they don’t actually haul anything in, but like to rig out with winches and toolboxes as if they’ve got important things to do. Similar to poser and cowboy up.

Cleatus: “Gotta go ‘round old man Miller’s ranch and git them irrigation pipes.”
John Boy: “Let’s git er done.”

Suburban whitey 1: “Hey, you want to help me install this 200 dollar tool box into my overpriced and ridiculously big pick-up that I only have to haul the groceries home and make me feel better about my small penis?”

Suburban whitey 2: “Let’s git er done.”

3. Git Er Done
A phrase that has the potential to send normal people or anyone who doesn’t like the phrase (87% of all people in existence, including many Southerners) into severe fits of rage and irritation. See example below.

Slow Southern retard: GIT ER DONE!!!
Me: (Aims the shotgun at his face) KA-BOOOM!!! “GOT Er Done, bitch.”

4. Git Er Done
originally made famous by Larry the Cable Guy used most often by rednecks.

Say a gentleman by the name of Q (in the tone of southern drawl) states:
“This thar tranny in that thar neon (dang dodge) seem to ha separated. Need dem parts to sho.”
Gentleman next to him, aptly named OBX states:
“Git’er done!”

5. Git Er Done
Complete a task (get her done). The phrase can and is used by idiots all too often. Because it is only spoken by white trash and wanna-be white trash, the users attribute it’s invention to “Larry the Cable Guy” (whoever that is) when in actuality the phrase was first made popular by John Travolta’s character in the 1976 film Carrie, based on the Stephen King novel. If you’re going to show what a moron you are by using this phrase, at least know when it was introduced to pop culture.

random person: I have to do some laundry.
idiot: Git Er Done!!!
random person: shut up, you’re such an idiot for saying that - it’s totally stupid!

6. Git Er Done
- The south-of-the-mason-dixon- line equivolent of fuhgeddaboudit.
- Can have meanings in several contexts.

Git er done is like if you agree with someone, you know, like Faith Hill is one great piece of ass, get er done. But then, if you disagree, like A Ford is better than a Chevy? Get er done! you know? But then, it’s also like if something’s the greatest thing in the world, like chicken and waffles, get er done. But it’s also like saying Go to hell! too. Like, you know, like “Hey Bubba, you got a one inch pecker?” and Bubba says “Get er done!” ....and sometimes it just means get er done.

7. git er done
A phrase that translates to “I’m a stupid redneck asshole with a lame sense of humor”.
“Git er done! Der hur hur hur hur hur!”

8. Git Er Done
The latest, most irritating slang term today that is sweeping over parts of the US like a plague. Only rednecks, cowboys, stars of The Blue Collar Comedy Tour, The Sons of Confederate Veterans, and other total freaks say this. I will be relieved when this idiotic phrase is finally burned out, hopefully in the next two years.

I think the fact that they named that “movie” the Blue Collar Comedy Tour is quite insulting to actual middle and lower-class citizens who fall under the Blue Collar status and live in Northern states and cities. Now many morons out there will expect EVERY blue-collar person being like those Southern, redneck-talkin jackasses on that movie.

9. Git Er Done
Retardation in spoken form; pure and simple. This has to be the worst phrase ever created above all of the terms and phrases of the American slang.
If you say ‘Git Er Done’ please kill yourself.

10. Git Er Done
The stupidest phrase ever coined since crunk. This is a complete distortion of “Get It Done” as what all the other normal people say. A few other impressionable people said it also until “Git Er Done” came around. It doesn’t matter where I go, I always seem to hear it.

That Redneck said: “Git Er Done means that yur encouraging some guy to do something or congradulating ‘em when they do it.”
Then I said: “Saying Git Er Done means that you’re retarded.”

by The Kentucky Yankee Sep 15, 2004

1. git r done
the modern use of git r done was developed in the early 90’s by hard working white males who reached a point in their life where they wanted to actually accomplish something in life… instead of getting completely hammered and rebuilding transmissions, the started doing projects that really mattered - projects like fixing the mailbox, cleaning the house, possibly even taking a few loads to the dump. This sudden surge of progress made these men feel good, like they were doing something. So, they had to have a way in their simple minds to reaffirm that feeling of getting something done. Thus, “GITRDONE!” was born. This can be said before a task is completed to motivate them, or after a task is completed to celebrate. It is also used profusely during the process of completing a task for no apparent reason which is very obnoxious and ambient. Often used with a drawn out “Woooooo!” yelling before or after. GITRDONE!

Buck: “Hey Stew, I just mowed the lawn and weeded the old ladies’ flower bed!”
Stew: “GIT R DONE!!!!!!!!!!”
Buck: “Woooooooooooooooo!& quot;

8. git r done
Believed by non-rednecks to be an interjection. Believed to have originated in 1934 in a small town in Alabama called Mahsister(the name of the town comes from the founder who named it after the one who he liked having intercourse with most). In Mahsister, Alabama, in the summer of ‘34, a cat had climbed up a tree at one of the local drunken shindigs. The owner of the cat, standing beneath the tree, pointed at the cat while exclaiming “get her down!” The local hicks interpreted this as a celebratory interjection such as right on or yee haw. The locals began shouting the conflation of the phrase; “git’rdone” to rejoice and take part in a shared excitement.

1. Git R Dun
Statement of support, encouragement, or respect from one blue collar guy, military man, cowboy, redneck, country boy or rough neck to another. Never to be used by city slickers, yuppies and those not seeking the affections of the opposite sex! Used to define a moment to come, a moment that passed or a dream one hopes will come true. Most oftenly refered to by guys in reference to potential sexual encounters with hot chicks. Commonly refers to times when to cowboy up would be required.
