The slogan of the Texas Roadhouse restaurant since 2001 is: “If it doesn’t say ‘Texas,’ it’s not Texas Roadhouse.”
The irony is that the restaurant chain began in 1993—in Clarksville, Indiana. There are several Texas locations, however.

It all began when our founder, Kent Taylor had a vision of great steaks, killer ribs and ice-cold beer at a price that families across America could afford.
The first Texas Roadhouse opened in Clarksville, Indiana on February 17th, 1993, and today we currently have over 235 locations in 43 states and plan to open many new locations throughout 2006.
