Where thousands live the way millions wish they could (Needville slogan)

Needville is a city of only about 3,000 people, but it takes pride in its rural way of life. An annual harvest festival is held in October.

“Where thousands live the way millions wish they could” is a slogan (not yet trademarked) that’s on the Needville Chamber of Commerce website and that’s painted on signs in the city. Life could change quickly, however, if TxDOT improves highways from Needville to Houston.

TxDOT Suddenly Has Money to Spend

Needville promotes itself as the town “where thousands live the way millions wish they could.” The slogan is painted on signs around town and posted on the city’s Chamber of Commerce Web site.

The sprawl from Houston to Sugar Land to Richmond hasn’t touched the community. A couple feed supply stores and a family-owned hardware store remain downtown. Needville celebrates its annual Harvest Festival in October.

The population has grown some in recent years, but Rhodes believes it’s the town’s old-fashioned values that keep Needville appealing.

Nudist Needville
Odd: Interesting article by Paul Knight ["Cut Off,” July 10] about the social dos and don’ts in Needville. If Knight had Googled “Needville,” he would no doubt have uncovered the fact that this town is primarily known for having a thriving nudist colony. Perhaps this fits in with the town’s slogan: “Where thousands live the way millions wish they could.”
