“No Soliciting…unless you’re selling Thin Mints” is a jocular sign meaning that only Girl Scouts selling cookies (Thin Mints) need approach a residence or place of business. The sign has been printed with several variations.
The comedy film Love at First Bite (1979)—about Count Dracula in New York City—contained the line:
“Don’t want you to ever come back here again… unless you’re selling Girl Scout cookies, okay?”
The sign “No soliciting, unless you’re selling Girl Scout Cookies” was cited in the newsgroup rec.arts.sf.written on September 16, 2003. “I need a sign on my front door that reads ‘Absolutely NO solicitors! (unless you’re selling Girl Scout cookies)’” was posted on Twitter on October 13, 2009. “Loving this sign from @iheartBCD ‘Unless you sell Thin Mints…No Soliciting’” was posted on Twitter on January 17, 2011.
The Girl Scouts of the United States of America established national headquarters in New York City in 1915. The jocular signs have been posted all over the United States.
Wikipedia: Girl Scout Cookies
Girl Scout Cookies are cookies sold by Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) as one of its major fundraisers for local Scout units. Members of the GSUSA have been selling cookies since 1917 to raise funds. Girls who participate can earn prizes for their efforts. There are also troop incentives if the troop as a whole does well. As of 2007, sales were estimated at about 200 million boxes per year.
In the 1950s, three more cookie recipes were added: “Shortbreads”, “Peanut Butter Sandwich”, and “Thin Mints”

Like, well, anything, a libertarian justification for the no-call list is fairly simple to produce (as is a statist justification.) To a libertarian, the no-call list is a convenient way of posting “no soliciting” signs on his phone line without inconveniencing people who are welcome to use it - just like the sign on my front door which says “No soliciting, unless you’re selling Girl Scout Cookies.” (Really.)

Anyway, I made a ‘No Soliciting’ sign and I’m pretty pleased with it 😉 Yeah, pretty much we’re not buying anything from anyone who knocks at my door . . . unless it’s girl scout cookies - now, who can resist those? =) Is my message clear enough?
