“Opinions are like assholes—everybody’s got one”

“Opinions are like assholes—everybody’s got one” is an expressive way of saying that everyone has an opinion. “Opinions” is often replaced with the word “excuses,” and “assholes” is often replaced with “rear ends,” “noses,” or “belly buttons.”
The “like noses—everybody’s got one” line has been cited in print since at least 1912-1913.  The “opinions” version has been cited in print since at least 1969: “Opinions are like people’s anatomy. Everybody’s got one.”
“Opinions are like orgasms—mine matters most, and I don’t care if you have one” is a similar saying.

Opinions Are Like Navels—Everybody Has One
In writing, we have something called quotes. Quotes consist of statements by people, government spokesmen or whatever. They are intended to convey the opinion of the speaker and opinions are like navels in that everybody has one.

Another twisted view, but then, opinions are like belly-buttons (substitute your favorite orifice here), everybody’s got one…

Opinions are like assholes: everybody has one, but nobody want’s to see the other guy’s. I like to hear arguments and points. I’m sure everybody here reads this group to hear conflicting arguments and points. Having stated that you do not wish to hear anything contrary to what you believe, “pull up your pants” and shut up.

You know the old saying that “Opinions are like noses; everybody’s got one.” Well, not those words, exactly, but you get the idea. In any case, it’s true, and it’s a real problem.
