"How is math like sex? First, you ADD a bed. Then, SUBTRACT the clothes. DIVIDE the legs and MULTIPLY!” was posted on the newsgroup rec.humor under the title “Old Math Joke” on July 12, 1995. “Sex is like math:  add the bed, subtract the clothes, divide the legs, and hope you don’t multiply” was posted on the newsgroup alt.sex.marketplace on February 25, 2005.

“Sex is a lot like math; You add the bed, subtract the clothes, divide the legs, and pray you don’t multiply” was posted on Twitter by Not Will Ferrell on July 24, 2012. The math/sex saying has been printed on many images. It is not known who told the joke first, or when.

“Sex is like math. I don’t get it” is a similar saying.
