Lee Harvey Oswald (1939-1963) was the accused lone assassin of U.S. President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963, although Oswald called himself a patsy and said that he never shot anyone. Several figures that some believe were criminal patsies have also taken the “Lee Harvey” moniker.
 
Timothy McVeigh (1968-2001) was accused of the Oklahoma City bombing on April 19, 1995, and Adam Lanza (1992-2012) was accused of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting of December 14, 2012. “Lee Harvey McVeigh” was cited in print in 1995 and “Lee Harvey Lanza” was cited in print in 2013.

Lee Harvey Oswald (October 18, 1939 – November 24, 1963) was, according to five government investigations, the sniper who assassinated John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States, in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963.
 
Oswald was a former U.S. Marine who defected to the Soviet Union in October 1959. He lived in the Soviet Union until June 1962, at which time he returned to the United States. Oswald was initially arrested for the murder of police officer J. D. Tippit, who was killed on a Dallas street approximately 45 minutes after President Kennedy was shot. Oswald would later be charged with the assassination of President Kennedy as well but denied shooting anybody. Two days later, while being transferred from police headquarters to the county jail, Oswald was shot and killed by Dallas nightclub owner Jack Ruby in full view of television cameras broadcasting live.
 
In 1964, the Warren Commission concluded that Oswald acted alone in assassinating Kennedy, firing three shots.

Recall how, not long after the April 19, 1995 bombing(s), Colonel (Retired) James “Bo” Gritz and others were referring to McVeigh as “Lee Harvey McVeigh.”  This was an allusion to Lee Harvey Oswald, accused lone assassin of President John F. Kennedy.  Paraded into the angry Oklahoma sunshine shortly after the bombing of the Murrah Building, clad in a bright orange “see me”  jumpsuit,  it appeared as if *someone*  might save the prosecution some work by murdering McVeigh, a la Jack Ruby doing the same to Oswald.  Were the government and/or its agents hoping that might happen, that McVeigh would magically be removed from the equation?
