“There is no excuse for animal abuse” is a popular vegan saying that has been printed on many images. The expression has been popular since the 1980s.
   
“There is no excuse for animal abuse and neglect” was in a letter to the editor printed in the Santa Cruz (CA) Sentinel on July 25, 1985. “THERE’S NO EXCUSE FOR ANIMAL ABUSE” (shown in an ad for the Northeast Pa. Chapter of L.O.V.E., League Opposing Vivisection Experiments) was printed in The Times Leader (Wilkes-Barre, PA) on February 13, 1986. “NO EXCUSE FOR ANIMAL ABUSE” (shown in an ad for the Animal Protection Bureau) was printed in the Livingston County Press (Howell, MI) on April 20, 1988. “The demonstrators carried signs that read (...) ‘There’s No Excuse for Animal Abuse’” was printed in the New Era (Lancaster, PA) on May 31, 1988.
   
The saying has been used by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), but wasn’t coined by this organization.
