"Resistance training” doesn’t mean resisting going to the gym, but that’s the popular joke. “I’m counting the past 2 hours lying on the couch *not* going to the gym as resistance training” was cited on Twitter on July 10, 2010. “Refusing to go to the gym counts as resistance training, right?” was posted on Twitter by “Ham on Wry” on February 28, 2016.

What Is Resistance Training?
Resistance training is any exercise that causes the muscles to contract against an external resistance with the expectation of increases in strength, tone, mass, and/or endurance. The external resistance can be dumbbells, rubber exercise tubing, your own body weight, bricks, bottles of water, or any other object that causes the muscles to contract.
