The joke became popular in 2011. “Ah, sarcasm. Perhaps the only thing that gets easier to pick up the heavier it is” was cited on Twitter on March 21, 2011. “It may sound like a gravitational paradox, but it turns out that heavier women are easier to pick up” was cited on Twitter on August 9, 2011. “What’s easier to pick up the heavier it gets? Women” was posted on Reddit on December 3, 2011.
