“Alexa, homeschool my kids”

The 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic resulted in the closing of many schools, and the homeschooling of children. “Alexa, homeschool the children” and “Alexa, homeschool my kids”—commands to the Amazon Alexa virtual assistant—were printed on many images.
“Alexa, homeschool the children!” was posted on Twitter by Tom Sappington on March 17, 2020. “Alexa, homeschool my kids!” was posted on Twitter by Kristie Thompson later on March 17, 2020.

Amazon Alexa, also known simply as Alexa, is a virtual assistant AI technology developed by Amazon, first used in the Amazon Echo smart speakers developed by Amazon Lab126. It is capable of voice interaction, music playback, making to-do lists, setting alarms, streaming podcasts, playing audiobooks, and providing weather, traffic, sports, and other real-time information, such as news. Alexa can also control several smart devices using itself as a home automation system.

Adam saw a very funny post on social media yesterday: “Alexa, home school my children.”  Humor in challenging times is a good thing. (To be fair, our “children” are a dog and a cat - Gracie and Zeke - who I’ve now discovered essentially sleep all day.)
