Big Apple (pachinko parlors in Japan, 2000?-present)

Okura Holdings Limited owns pachinko parlors under the name of “Big Apple.” It’s not known when the first “Big Apple” pachinko parlor opened, but they’ve been around since at least the early 2000s.

The Big Apple parlors have included Big Apple-Akihabara, Big Apple-Ofuna, Big Apple-You Park Motosumiyoshi and Big Apple-Kakogawa.

Our Pachinko Halls
We operate 11 pachinko halls under the trading names “K’s Plaza” “Big Apple” and “SENKURA” to cater to customers preference and address the competition in the area. The majority of our halls provide a mix of low and high playing cost machines or just low playing cost machines. The majority of our pachinko halls have a mix of pachinko and pachislot machines, whilst some only have pachislot machines, depending on the customers’ preference in the area.

Okura to close a pachinko hall in Kanagawa prefecture
By AGBrief Editorial
May 2, 2023
Pachinko operator Okura Holdings has announced that it will cease operations of its pachinko hall, Big Apple, Ofuna hall (called BA Ofuna) located at Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, with effect from 7 May, 2023.

According to a Tuesday filing, the Hong Kong-listed company noted that COVID has led to low overall customer traffic since early 2020. Although BA Ofuna gradually ‘managed to regain customer traffic in the six months ended 31 December 2022, as compared with some of the company’s other pachinko halls, the recovery of customer traffic at BA Ofuna is still at a slow pace’.
