Chalupa Burger

“Chalupa Burger” is a specialty of Big’Z Burger Joint (established 2006) in San Antonio. The combination of chalupa and hamburger attempts to imitate the success that San Antonio restaurant Chris Madrids has had with the “Tostada Burger.”

Big’z nod to Tex-Mex is the Chalupa Burger.

Think beanburger, with the corn chips replaced by the whole chalupa shell. This works surprisingly well, as the shell stayed crisp inside the burger and didn’t spray dry chip crumbs in every direction.

So, if you like Chris-Madrid-type offerings, you can find something similar in Big’z chalupa burger.

I totally agree with you, I don’t get the hype about the thin burgers, it’s Bigz for me all the way. Their chalupa burger blows away the Chris Madrid’s Tostada, IMHO.
