Climastrology (climate + astrology); Climastrologer (climate + astrologer)

“Climatology” is the study of climates; a climatology scientist is called a “climatologist.” People who believe that climate scientists have been driven by a political agenda and have incorrectly examined data to prove man-made global warming have developed new names:
. climastrology (climate + astrology)
. climastrologer (climate + astrologer)
. climastrologist (climatologist + astrology)
“Climastrology” has been cited in print since at least 1984, but was popularized by the essay “Global Warming as Climastrology” (january 6, 2010) by James Lewis. “Climastrologer” has been cited in print since at least March 2009. “Climastrologist” (similar to “climastrologer”) has been cited in print since at least April 2009.

NBC’s Lewis Shuns Global Warming Skeptics
By Mike Sargent | March 30, 2009 | 14:40
NBC climastrologer and all-around nice guy George Lewis said on Sunday’s “Today” show that global warming is at least partly the fault of mankind. More disturbing, however, is the fact that exactly zero consideration was given to actual scientific criticism of such a viewpoint.

Global Warming as Climastrology
Just like the old astrology, they scare and frighten over and over again, and finally they get their chance to rob the taxpayers because that’s where the money is.

January 6, 2010 - 12:00 am
The good news for 2010 is that the climate fraudsters are on the run. The bad news is that they are hoping against hope that the sheriff’s posse won’t catch ‘em. Because the real reason for “global warming” is now clear beyond any reasonable doubt. The reason is ten trillion dollars in taxpayer dough for politicians, transnational bureaucrats, and phony science types.

GCMs did not / do not predict the future, they do not correspond with real observations, they are scientifically invalid.
We are thus beyond science and in to the art of climastrology. Cross their palms with silver and they will tell you your doom. Quiver before the new climastrologer priests, who can say no wrong. Give up your worldly possessions, turn your back on civilisation, and recreate your ancestors life in the honest toil of serfdom.

“Climastrologist” James Hansen versus reality
by Jonathan DuHamel on Sep. 29, 2011
A letter to the editor in Monday’s Arizona Daily Star characterizes James Hansen as “our leading climate scientist.” The letter was written by the head of a climate activist group which I mentioned in a previous post: Climate craziness and warming activists. Hansen, an astronomer, is head of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York. He has been the doomsayer-sayer-in-chief of the climate alarmists along with Al Gore.
Given the antics of “our leading climate scientist,” one wonders if climate science as practiced today is really a science. Maybe it should be called “climastrology.”
