Frankensnack (Frankenstein monster + snack)

Entry in progress—B.P.
The novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus(1818), by British author Mary Shelley, is about scientist Victor Frankenstein who creates a creature or monster (not named and called “Frankenstein monster”). The prefix ‘Franken-” became popular in the 2000s to describe something created from science, such as “Frankenfood.”
Wikipedia: Frankenstein
Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus is a novel written by British author Mary Shelley about eccentric scientist Victor Frankenstein, who creates a grotesque creature in an unorthodox scientific experiment. Shelley started writing the story when she was eighteen, and the novel was published when she was twenty. The first edition was published anonymously in London in 1818. Shelley’s name appears on the second edition, published in France in 1823.

And it was also a prime example of a burgeoning genre of junk food that we’ve decided to call the Frankensnack.
The Frankensnack is so named because it takes two or more types of junk food and mashes them together in the gustatory equivalent of Frankenstein’s monster. Such creations should not to confused with Frankenfood, the term that many activists use to describe genetically-modified food products.

Dorito-crusted cheese nuggets signal snackpocalypse

It’s hypertension! It’s a stroke! It’s some kind of hot cheese coated with crushed Doritos, just like the old fortune teller predicted! Doritos Loaded arrived at 7-11 locations around Dallas on Tuesday and roll out in Los Angeles tomorrow (leaving a trademark orange trail).
