“I brought a home pregnancy kit. Turns out my house is pregnant”

A “home pregnancy test” is a pregnancy test done at home. It is not a test to see if a home is pregnant, but there are jokes.

“I see home pregnancy tests advertised, but I’ve never bought one becasue I’ve never suspected that my home is pregnant” was posted on the newsgroup alt.folklore.urban on January 24, 1992. “I bought a home pregnancy test. Turns out my home is pregnant” was credited to English comedian Jimmy Carr in the Evening Standard (London, UK) on December 3, 2007.

“I bought a home pregnancy kit, turns out my house is pregnant. We’re thrilled! We’re having a shed.—Jimmy Carr (LOLOLOL)” was posted on Twitter by angs on July 19, 2010. “Bought a home pregnancy kit, turns out my house is pregnant, we’re thrilled we’re having a shed..” was posted on Twitter by sickipediabot (and originally posted on the popular joke website Sickipedia) on November 2, 2012.

3 December 2007, Evening Standard (London, UK), “Comeback for quips” by Bruce Dessau, pg. 43:
[Jimmy Carr] is a master craftsman who just happens to have chosen pure filth as his preferred building block. Which is a shame because he can be just as witty without reverting to smut: “I bought a home pregnancy test. Turns out my home is pregnant.”
