“Life Hack: When cutting bagels, put your finger in the stabilization hole to keep it steady”

A bagel has a hole in it. The hole is not to put one’s finger inside to “stabilize” the bagel—a finger could be cut off—but there are jokes.

“I wonder how many people have cut off their finger while slicing a bagel because they put it in the hole for stabilization. #randomthought” was posted on Twitter by Tyler G. on May 29, 2013. “LPT: When cutting bagels in half, put your finger through the stabilization hole to keep it steady” was posted on Reddit—ShittyLifeProTips on October 16, 2015.

The bagel-cutting joke has been printed on many images.

Wikipedia: Bagel
A bagel (Yiddish: בײגל‎ beygl; Polish: bajgiel), also historically spelled beigel, is a bread product originating in the Jewish communities of Poland. It is traditionally shaped by hand into the form of a ring from yeasted wheat dough, roughly hand-sized, that is first boiled for a short time in water and then baked.
